Climbing Chopicalqui Mountain - Cordillera Huayhuash Trek - Huaraz - Perú - South América 2022.
- Altitude Cordillera Huayhuash Trek :

5,000m ( Paso Cuyoc).

Itinerary:
Day 1. - Country of origin to Lima, stay at hotel.
Day 2. - Lima to Huaraz, the capital of Ancash department (3,090m) by bus (8 hours), stay at hotel ( Bus Cruz del Sur).
Day 3. - Acclimatization trek Wilkawain (3,550m).
We drive from Huaraz to Wilkawain by bus. At Wilkawain we start our trip. At first we visit the archaeological ruins, which lasts from the pre-inca-time. The ruins pretend to the Culture Wasi. This culture takes its roots in Ayacucho. After that we visit another village, it is called San Miguel de Recriash. From here we descend for one tour to reach the hot springs of Monterrey. There we can take a bath before we return to Huaraz.

Day 4. – We drive from Huraz to Chiquian (3400m) - Cuartelhuain (3900).
From here we drive to Llamac (3250m). Here we meet the donkey-driver and his donkeys. At 11.00 am we leave Llamac and walk to Cuartelhuain. (3900). During our walk we can enjoy the view to the first mountain tops like Ninashanca and we pass through rural villages like Pocpa and  Paclla before we arrive our camping-site Cuartelhuain. Walking-time about 6-7 hours.

Day 5. – Cuartelhuain (3900) - Laguna de Mitococha. (4100).
Walking-time 5 – 6 hours. Today we pass our first pass which is called Cacananpunta (4700) and see the summits of Ninashanca, Rondoy, the lakes Pucacocha, Yanacocha Chico and el Grande. After that we descend until the Camping of  Mitococha. From here we have a nice view to the tops of Rondoy and Hirishanca.

Day 6. – Laguna de Mitococha (4100) - Laguna de Carhuacocha (4138).
Walking-time 5-6 hours. We climb up to the second pass of Punta Carhuac (4650). Then we descend through the mountain ravine to our camping-site of Carhuacocha.From here we can enjoy the beautiful landscape with the summits of Jirishanca, Yerupaja, Toro, etc.

Day 7. – Laguna de Carhuacocha (4138) - Huayhuash. (4100).
Walking-time about 6-7 hours. Now we pass the third pass which is named Paso de Carnicero (4600). We descend to the lakes of Atocshaico, Carnicero and see the mountains Siula, Jural, Carnicero y Trapecio.

Day 8. – Huayhuash (4100) - Laguna Viconga (4407).
 Walking-time 5-6 hours. Today we climb up to the pass of Portachuelo (4750) and enjoy the view to the mountains Puscanturpa, Cuyoc, Millpo and parts of the Cordillera Raura.Then we arrive at our camping-site Viconga (4300). It is possible to take a bath at the hot springs of Atuscancha (4000).

Day 9. – Laguna Viconga (4407) – Pass San Antonio (4700m) Guanacpatay (3900).
Walking-time about 4-5 hours. The 5th pass we will pass is called Cuyoc (5000). This will be the highest pass of our trekking - Pass San Antonio. Descending to the camping.

Day 10. – Guanacpatay (3900) - Huayllapa (3600) - Huatia (4200).
Walking-time about 6-7 hours. We descend to Guanacpatay and reach the village of Huayllapa. After that we ascend to the camping of Huatia, observing the camp of the mountain Diablo mudo – Juituhuarco and Rosario.

Day 11. – Huatia (4200) - Laguna Jahuacocha (4066).
Today we pass the point of Punta Tapush (4900) and observe the mountains Auxilio, Diablo Mudo. Besides we walk up to the pass of Yaucha (4800). Where the groups usually descend to the mountain ravine of Haucrish we can see parts of the glacier of Hirishanca and Yerupaja. We arrive at the lake of Jahuacocha, camping.

Day 12. – Laguna Jahuacocha (4066) - Llamac (3250).
 Now we pass the last pass of our trekking. This pass is called paso de Pampa de Llamac (4300). For the last time we enjoy the view to the mountains of Cordillera Huayhuash. We drive back to Chiquian. Transport to Huaraz.

Day 13. – Day of rest in Huaraz.
Logistics and preparing the technical gear for the expedition.
Day 14. -  Huaraz to base camp of Chopicalqui. (4.350 m).
Bus ride to Portachuelo Llanganuco (4.100 m) where we start walking to the base camp, carrying our personal gear. We spend the night at the camp.

Day 15. -  base camp to camp 1 (5.300 m).
Vertical drop: 900 m, duration: 4 to 5 hours.

Day 16. – C1 - Chopicalqui summit (6.354 m) – C1
Early start before dawn to climb to the summit. The vertical drop of 1,054 m and the return to camp 1 is usually done in 10 to 11 hours. The summit offers exceptional views of the whole Cordillera Blanca mountain range.

Day 17. – Camp 1 - Camp Morrena to Huaraz - Hostal.
Return to Portachuelo Llanganuco where we transfer on bus to Huaraz - Hostal.
The vertical drop of 1200 m is done in 4 hours.

Day 18. - Huaraz to Lima, stay at hotel.
Day 19. - Lima, transfers from hotel to airport. Return to country of origin.

EXPEDITION COSTS INCLUDE:
- When you arrive to Lima we pick up you to the hotel by taxi.
- 2 nights lodging in Lima (double bed.)
- 5 nights lodging in Huaraz (double bed, breakfast included)
- Bus transportation Lima – Huaraz. (Service VIP).
- Private local transportation Huaraz – Llamac – Huaraz.
- Private local transportation Huaraz – Portachuelo Llanganuco - Huaraz
- Mountain guide (IUAGM) – Trek – Climb.
- Porters and cook.
- More than 6 person’s one horse for emergency case
- Donkeys to carry the common gear (tents, food and fuel) as well as donkeys to carry personal gear (up to 20 kg per person)
- Kitchen gear and cooking facilities at base camp (including dining tent, chairs, cooking tent).
- Cook, specialized in cooking normal and vegetarian meals
- Food for the whole duration of the climb (breakfast, lunch and dinner) is included.
- The meals include: omelets, sups, fresh fruits, ahuacate, spaghettis meats, rice all them rich in carbohydrates, excellent to recover all the energy you lose during the trek and climbing, also include drinks as: tea, coffee, milk breads, popcorn and coco tea good for altitude sickness
- Climbing gear: rope, Aluminum stakes, ice screws
- Camping gear: 4 season tent
- First aid kit
- Check-up for oxygen to assess acclimatization level of each client.
- Entry to National Park Huascarán.
Not included:
- Food costs outside the climb (Lima and Huaraz)
- Flight from country of origin to Lima
- Extra days of lodging due to delays of the trip
- Personal trekking and climbing gear (plastic boots, harness, ice axes, sleeping bag, sleeping mattress etc..)
- Personal expenses.
